Scotland

Scotland is found in the north of the island of Great Britain Edinburgh is the capital. It is  one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. To the south of the country lies the border with England; to the north and west it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and to the East by the North Sea. Apart from the mainland, Scotland is made up of over 790 islands lying off the north and west coast.
Scotland is faous for its beautiful landscapes, lakes and castles. Over half the landscape is covered by the Highlands, an area full of mountains among which there is Ben Nevis ( 1343m. ), the highest mountain in Britain. Few people live in the Highlands and agriculture is the main activity.
In the southern part of the country there are many lakes, known as "lochs". The biggest lake is Loch Ness, famous for the legend of the Loch Ness monster "Nessie".
Scotland is not only famous for its beautiful landscapes and lakes but also for its castles which are a very important part of Scottish history, for its picturesque towns rich in history and art, for the small villages, the great geen spaces,parks, garden and , above all, for its Scotch whisky , absolutely the best!
By the way, if you go to Scotland and see men in skirts, dont't worry! They are just wearing a Kilt, the typical Scottish dress, worn for formal occasions.
